Hurricane Delta

Earlier this week, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards signed Proclamation Number 133 JBE 2020 declaring a state of emergency for the State of Louisiana in advance of Hurricane Delta. 
 

PC Electric urges its members to be prepared for widespread damaging winds, extended power outages, and rainfall of up to 4-6”.
 

As with previous storms, PC Electric has extra crews, both in-house and contract, onsite and ready to assess and repair any damage our system may receive from Hurricane Delta.

As a reminder to our members, 35 mph wind is the industry safety standard that our linemen are held to. PC Electric lineman will not be allowed to begin assessments or repairs of our system until the winds calm to below 35 mph. High winds are the most dangerous situation for our linemen. As the storm approaches, we will stage materials and supplies in our warehouse, and on each truck involved in restoration efforts.

Please do not touch downed power lines

While the storm is underway in our area, our employees will be located safely out of harm’s way, while continuing to assess the extent of our outages. Once the storm passes, and winds calm to below 35 mph, our restoration efforts will begin.   

In an effort to restore power more efficiently, PC Electric has conducted detailed studies of our system, combined with past mass outages, and has determined the safest and quickest way to restore electric power to our members is to make the PC Electric transmission line our priority, then our substations, then each electrical feeder line that powers single-phase taps and individual outages.

Please know that if you see our crews out after the storm, that they are following this restoration process that makes the most impact in the shortest amount of time.
