Pointe Coupee Electric
(PCE) employees are conducting "electrical
safety" presentations for the youth in its
tri-parish service area throughout the months of
June and July.
The presentations are
geared toward youth within Pointe Coupee,
Iberville and West Baton Rouge parishes. Youth
will learn about the basics of electricity and
how important and useful it is in their daily
lives. Pointe Coupee Electric employees also
will stress the dangers of electricity, as well
as some ways in which to avoid the dangers.
The "electrical
safety" presentation consists of a short video,
group discussion and a demonstration of what
happens when contact is made with an electrical
line.
Youth will be given
valuable information and activity books to take
home. The presentation runs approximately 45
minutes.
“In fulfilling our responsibility to help
educate the children of our community, we’re
proud to be making these presentations and we
hope our program will help prevent accidents
from occurring,” according to PCEMC General
Manager J.H. “Jodie” Cotten.
There is no cost to attend but it is necessary
to RSVP for each of the seminars.
