Prepare an Emergency Kit for Severe Weather

Every year at this time people in south Louisiana brace themselves for another potentially destructive hurricane season. Hurricane season begins on June 1 and continues through November 30.

PC Electric works hard to keep power on for its members, but severe weather can sometimes put us in the dark. You will be safer and less inconvenienced if you have the following emergency supplies on hand:

  • Flashlight with fresh batteries
  • Candles and holders
  • Matches
  • Firewood and kindling
  • Charcoal grill with charcoal
  • Lighter
  • Non-perishable food
  • Radio with fresh batteries
  • Blankets
  • Wind-up clock
  • Paper plates and plastic utensils
  • Bottle water
  • Extra batteries

The above listed are the very basic items you will need. For a more complete list of items for a storm survival kit, click here and print a copy of our brochure, Storm Watch.

PC Electric is an electric cooperative serving areas of Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge, and Iberville parishes.
