Trophy AGAIN
Pointe Coupee Electric Membership Corp. (PCEMC) Board President
Jimmy Ewing, General Manager Jodie Cotten Jr. and Co-op directors
Al Smith Jr., Irvin E. Settoon Sr. and Peter Rumfola Jr. joined
Safety Coordinator Danny Cline and Manager of Operations Craig Magruder
in accepting the Louisiana Statewide Cooperative Safety Trophy on
behalf of the management and employees of PCEMC at the ALEC award's
ceremony held July 26th in Baton Rouge. Also serving on the PCEMC
board but unable to attend the award ceremony were directors Ralph
B. Chustz, Al Ewing and George G. LaCour Jr.
PCEMC's 42 employees worked a total of 185,299 employee-hours without
a lost-time accident since April 2002. For the award period June
1, 2003 to May 31, 2004, PCEMC’s employees worked 86,004 employees-hours
without a lost-time accident
The trophy, as well as a safety recognition plaque, and a Linemen’s
statue were presented by Buck Theriot, Director of Loss Control
with the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (ALEC),
in recognition of the PCEMC employees' outstanding safety record
over the past year. Safety awards are presented as part of ALEC's
annual statewide membership meeting.
This is the fifth time PCEMC has won the trophy, which is displayed
at the office of the winning Co-op for one year in recognition of
superior employee effort toward the safe performance of their respective
duties. PCEMC has also won the trophy in 1989, 1999, 2000 and 2003.
The trophy also recognizes the support of the Co-op's board of directors,
management and supervisors to the safe operation of the utility.
The Linemen’s statue is a new award given by the ALEC Loss
Control department to the cooperative who held the Statewide Safety
Trophy for the previous year. PCEMC received this award since it
was the recipient of the Statewide Safety Trophy for the previous
year. General Manager Jodie Cotten congratulated and praised all
the PCEMC employees on their professional performance and dedication
in earning the statewide trophy.
"I am proud of all of our employees for earning this award
for the second year in a row and for the compliment it pays to our
Co-op and its directors and members," Cotten added.
PCEMC's employees serve approximately 9,700 active accounts in
Iberville, Pointe Coupee and West Baton Rouge Parishes.
