Pointe Coupee Electric crews aid Arkansas co-ops after ice storm
Pointe Coupee Electric Membership Corp. (PCEMC) was among Louisiana electric consumer-owned utilities that sent men and vehicles to assist co-ops to recover from an ice storm that left 1.3 million people in the dark in late January after a major ice storm.
PCEMC sent seven employees with several vehicles to Craighead Electric Cooperative in Jonesboro, Ark.
Co-op employees standing from left to right are Josh Sanders, Will Ramagos, Jeff Serio and Joe Langlois. Kneeling from left to right are Scott Mougeot, Johnny Plauche and Jerry Moore. The co-op employees performed recovery work for about ten days in Arkansas.
Damage was so extensive some utility service could not be restored in the region until mid-February.
General Manager J.H. Jodie Cotten noted PCEMC was pleased to provide aid to some of the same co-ops that had come to Louisiana’s aid during Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Gustav. PCEMC is part of a network of 900 consumer-owned electric utilities across the United States that come to each other’s aid during disasters and also work together on various regulatory and economic concerns.
